Internet marketing resource tip

E-Zines, and Marketing Guru's

Here's your first Internet marketing resource tip; E-eZine

One of the most powerful uses of the Internet is communication. They say it takes at least five "impressions" or contacts before you or I feel comfortable enough to buy. Way too many businesses stop at one or two contacts.

I'm not here to sell you on the power of having an Ezine, which is short for email magazine or newsletter, just to help you find the right service provider.

If you have the energy and the skill, you can probably find an email, eZine-processing program at www.download.com or www.hotscripts.com. Download it and set it up on your server.

One thing to consider is your Internet Service Provider; ISP (the company who gives you Internet access). Some may cut off your service for Spamming.

Most ISP's have a limit to the number of emails you can send in a day. Once you exceed their cutoff, you could be considered spamming. Since they might be held liable, your service could be terminated.

Setting up and managing your own system can be very time consuming. If your time is worth more than minimum wage, you're better off using a third party to provide you with this service. Besides, it's on their server not yours.

Two companies that are considered the best are 1Shoppingcart.com and Aweber.

If you're going to have a shopping cart and eZine, then 1Shoppingcart is your best choice. If you choose their basic cart, for another $20 you can have your own auto responder. If you use their full service option the auto responder is included.

(For a more complete explanation of an auto responder see small business web site hosting)

The real advantage is that you can open the lines of communication with your clients and begin your Internet marketing from day one. Even if they don't buy a product from you today.

Let's say you offer a free class, special report or resource tip. Your prospects can sign up through your cart and automatically join your eZine. Very powerful!

The other player is Aweber. If you won't be using a shopping cart this is the best choice for you. The service costs $19 a month and has everything you need to make this great tool work for you.

Both of these Internet marketing tools also give you the option to make money. You can sign up for their affiliate programs, promote their service on your website or eZine and have checks mailed to you.

What's great about these affiliate programs is that you get paid every month that your referrals use the service. So build up your clientele and take an extended vacation, that's passive income.

Internet marketing resource tip #2 - Marketing

Marketing is probably one of the most difficult tasks for most small businesses.

Marketing online is an extension of traditional marketing practice with some unique considerations.

Here are two of my favorite Marketing Guru's. Both have helped me out enormously in my pursuit of a better way to build a successful business.

Twenty years ago (1984) I moved from Boise Idaho to Palo Alto, California to seek my fortune in the software industry.

We were building a program I had designed for home improvement (virtual reality meets Home Depot). Out on the "bleeding edge" of technology.

Any way, there was this fellow who was giving workshops in Berkley. His name was Jay Conrad Levinson and he had written a book called Guerrilla Marketing. Since then he has written many books on the topic including Guerrilla Marketing Online, a must read.

Recently I was attending a TeleClass with Mitch Meyerson, CEO of Guerrilla Marketing International. He has been working with Jay for the past couple of years and has put together an incredible set of marketing resources.

Mitch has developed a coaching program to train Guerrilla Marketers. His website www.mitchmyerson.com contains a wealth of articles that can help you find some unique marketing opportunities both online and off.

The other marketing Guru that has really helped me get my feet firmly planted in a marketing plan is Robert Middleton.

His InfoGuru Manual has got to be the best blueprint for marketing success. Robert's focus is on the Independent Professional. These include "management or technical consultant, corporate trainer, executive or personal coach, creative, financial or employment professionals."

Robert's website is full of free information. His approach to marketing is to give as much away as you can. Valuable and useful information will gain you high quality clients.

His InfoGuru comes with a wealth of resources and access to a private forum. I have learned so much by just listening in on some of the conversations. Great discussions on pricing, building client relationships and much more from some very experienced people.

So stop by Robert's Action Plan Marketing website and see for yourself.

If your ready to explore the options, please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call (800) 606-1255. My name is Dan Smith and I look forward to helping you build a great website.
