how to start a business online

Are you ready to take your Internet marketing to the next level?

We help our clients find the right mix of technologies that fit their time and their budget.

If you're like many of our clients, you might be facing one of these issues:

do-it-yourself internet

I am just starting a new coaching business and understand I need to be on the Internet. My finances are limited and I don't have a lot of experience with software. How can I get started?

We've had a website for a couple of years and it hasn't meet our expectations. I hear a lot about other companies who are making money with their website's. How are they doing it?

I'm ready to do some serious Internet marketing. I know I need to get our website on the search engines, directories and pay-per-click sites but how much is it going to cost? Where do I start?

My marketing coach tells me I need to publish an Ezine to build a client base. I've looked into a lot of different programs but they all look so complicated. Is there an easier way? Can you just help me get set up and give me some "human" instructions?

I am having a very difficult time keeping my website up-to-date. The guy that designed my page charges me an arm and a leg and takes forever to get anything done. Is there any way I can do this myself without having to learn programming?

I've looked into building a website and even spent over a thousand dollars on software. I do not have the time to learn a dozen different software programs just to have a website. What are my options?

Does this sound familiar to you?

The story of Bob

Bob was "laid off" from the job he worked at for over seventeen years. He decided this was a great opportunity to start his own consulting company and "loose the corporate bonds."

He already had a computer at home and a dedicated DSL line. So all he needed was a website some cards and letterhead and he was ready to go.

At first, it was exciting not to have to go to work. He would get up, have his coffee and "commute" across the hall to the spare bedroom.

After the novelty wore off, Bob realized that his workday was beginning at 6:00 in the morning and did not end until well after ten at night. Instead of working five days he was pretty much on a seven-day workweek. "Doing what needs to be done."

He got caught up spending weeks trying to learn Dreamweaver to build his website. Unfortunately, Bob really didn't have much of a sense of design and the site looked like it was built by an eight year old (no offense to eight year olds).

Bob learned enough about Microsoft's Word to write a letter and pretty much has email down cold. He tried to design a brochure, it matches his website.

So now his website has been up for over a year and he is very disappointed, no visitors, no business. He built it but they didn't come. The promise of the Internet seems like a farce to him.

Building your website without marketing it is like hanging your sign on the back of your closet door. No one sees it but you.

So, is this worth all the time and trouble?

As you probably already know, building, maintaining and marketing a website can be a very complicated and time-consuming process. Is it really worth the investment?

In a survey conducted in March 2004, AC Neilsen interviewed 400 small businesses. The results:

Over 58% said the Internet helped their business grow or expand.

51% indicated the Internet helped them become more profitable.

In an American Express survey of 500 small businesses

77% felt a website is a "must have" and

60% said they wish they had had a website for their business earlier.

Bottom line; yes it is worth the investment.

Our clients come to us for many reasons, but most because they want to be more successful using the Internet as part of their marketing program.

We find that the clients who succeed have these qualities:

do-it-yourself internet

They are ready to take charge but just don't have the time to learn all the expensive software programs.

live internet workshops

They realize that if they want different results they need to do things differently.

website design

They are open to learning a better way.

They are ready to put technology to work for them and stop working for technology.

They have a burning desire to focus on their business.

In short, if you don't have these characteristics you probably won't reach your goal.

Clients won't be successful with us if they:

do-it-yourself internet

Don't feel the Internet is an important part of their marketing program.
